Websites That Work.

Craft Media Workshop creates websites that work for creatives & service-based business.

If you’re a creative or service-based business and you’re looking for a website that does just what you need – you’re in the right place!

For small businesses, a website is an essential tool for attracting the right clients and customers.

It weeds out tire-kickers and irrelevant inquiries. It makes sure your prospects know what you deliver and how good it is – all without you lifting a finger or making a hard sell.

The right website reduces busy-work, and increases conversion rates and profit.

For creatives, a website is a powerful way to get your work seen, shared and financed.

It reflects your creative approach. It validates your skills, experience and ability. And it demonstrates that others think your work is great.

You might not need masses of traffic but your site needs to be creatively aligned with your work, visible to your key audience, well-organised and original – whether or not you have a brand or a company.

When all of this is true, your website enables your work to be found by the right people and attract the support it deserves.

Not all websites are created for the same reason

(And not every web designer gets that)

Your website needs to work for you, your audience and for search.

Jorja Stevens

Web Designer

Jorja balances her work at Craft Media Workshop with her studies at AUT- she is currently in her third and final year of a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Animation.

She’s worked as a designer in varying capacities over the years, with experience in graphic design, motion design, and illustration across her studies, as well as various freelance and volunteer projects. She’s been with Craft Media Workshop for a little over a year, balancing her work with university and extracurricular theatre.

Jorja acts as an assistant to Lyn, designing and building sites, writing copy, and taking care of anything else that needs doing to help clients get their sites off the ground.

Lyn Collie

Creative Director

Lyn started Craft Media Workshop to give creatives and small businesses a crafted, authentic online presence that fits their specific needs.

With a background in independent documentary, screenwriting and video production, Lyn is familiar with the unique communication needs of the creative community. As a small business owner with experience in digital outreach, she also understands how to create online content that gets the right eyes for the lowest overhead.

Prior to starting Craft Media Workshop Lyn worked in educational media production and internal communications. She taught videography to students at the University of Auckland Business School for seven years where she was recognised for service innovation.

Lyn has a Masters in Documentary Directing and a Post-graduate Certificate in Academic Practice, both from the University of Auckland.

Lynn Prentice

Lead Developer

At Craft Media Lynn lends his expertise to supervising the technical elements of our website projects, including additional code, hosting and server set-ups. He also mentors and upskills the team in these areas.

As a highly experienced senior developer, Lynn typically works with growth-stage companies and who also happens to be sysop on one of New Zealand’s largest independent blogs.

He has a professional focus on solving system issues and matching development architecture to business and customer needs.  Over the course of his career he has coded and supervised coding of many international projects.

Despite his preference for building and designing, Lynn has an MBA from Otago University and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by small and medium enterprises.

Sarina Pearson and Shuchi Kothari

Craft Media Workshop updated our Digital Storytelling website. They offered elegant solutions to structural challenges, working with the existing site logic,to improve site navigation and user journeys. They also migrated our video assets to a new delivery platform to improve visitor experience and reduce cost. Craft Media Workshop continues to look after the site, ensuring we never need to worry. They’ve been great, always responsive and communicative.

Alex Reed, Bloom Pictures

Craft Media Workshop has done a fantastic job on the Bloom website. They were incredibly thorough and prepared to take the time to 'get' Bloom Pictures as a company and really listened to what the message was that I wanted to convey. They're also really savvy on best ways to attract an audience to the site. I couldn't recommend them more.

Katherine Dolan, Katherine Dolan Writes

Craft Media Workshop created an author website for me and I cannot recommend their services highly enough. They built a website from scratch, migrating three years’ worth of blog posts to the new site. The design is attractive, easy to navigate and guides visitors towards taking 'action'. I love that the finished site feels very much like 'me'. The team are knowledgeable and up-to-date and consistently follow best practice. Any questions or concerns have been dealt with on the same day. If you're a creative who wants to take your brand to the next level, Craft Media Workshop will achieve that for you and then some.
